My ze 4200 series laptop has a bad power plug that ...

My ze 4200 series laptop has a bad power plug that cannot be replaced. The battery is shot. Can I somehow adapt the external charger parentally and make the laptop function when plugged in. Can power be docking station hook up be used to power the laptop. This is a good computer with no power and all I want it for is my warehouse person to do map quest and yahoo calender.

1st. If the DC socket in the laptop is wired (inside) you can cut the wires and replace it with same socket and extend it outside the laptop.If the DC socket is PART of the motherboard, it will be more difficult but not impossible.

2nd. A 'docking station ' won't work because the laptop "docks" bootie in and you said that the DC socket is damaged.

I would suggest that you open (if you know how) and jump the internal connections from the  DC power  [IN] with wires  that have a DC plug attached to the ends and hang it outside of the laptop.
