how do i become more open to my friends and family. I keep many things about my life and feelings to myself and its stressing me out by holding it all in. How do i open up?

Meggy, you may just have to force yourself to take the plunge and share something personal with someone.

If you just can't bring yourself to share with your family or friends, then try blogging or writing in a diary (the old fashioned kind).

You can also connect with someone in a support group or a teen hotline - sometimes it is easier to share with strangers.

You might also consider joining a group, club or activity of some kind. Sometimes it's easier to share with somebody new and a new activity can be a good stress-reducer. Have you considered volunteer work of some kind? Or perhaps yoga or martial arts (great stress reducers)?

If you've tried everything and you still can't share and it still bothers you (you're still stressed); then it's probably time to speak with a counselor. If your school doesn't have counselors (or they're lousy), then ask your parents to make an appointment with your physician. Tell your doctor everything you've told us and ask him or her for a referral to someone you can talk to about these issues.

Hello,I am sorry to hear that you got so much stress and keeping all inside will only stress you out even more.So think about what you are feeling inside and let it out to so one.You don't have to tell it all but stress is something that doesn't goes away on it own.A lot of people like your self wich they could express them selves to there family and friends.But for what ever reason they hold things inside of them till it is to late.Some times it is good to have a chat person online that way you don't know them and they don't know you.To release some of the pressure that your feeling.Maybe you should see a doctor and explain to him what you are feeling.You might have something so stressful on your mind that it will hurt you as well.why do you feel that you can't talk to your family and friends?Have they ever had to help you with any type of issue?what is going on in your life?I which you would express your self.So you know that people have to bet doctor help and have to use medcine cause of all the stress they are under and never told no one there issue.People die everyday cause of just stress.Your blood pressure can get so high and you not even know it.Till it is to late.So please don't just look at it like just stress it is really more than that.So get some help now bafore you end up on serious medcines.Hope that everything goes well for you and you found a way to express your self to your love one.They might already feel like there is something on your mind they are just waiting on you to come out and say it.So start talking.There are people that ae waiting to listen.Some of the times that all peolpe need is for someone to listen.So i am here i know that your familand friends are to.So till next time you get some help.

Sometimes, fear of loss of love from others can cause us to hide our true feelings. I say take the plunge beginning small and see what happens. You might be surprised. Most people are so involved I their own lives that they may not even react. However, if you are holding back because of events that are truly serious to your emotional health,I suggest you talk first to someone you can trust before you talk to those involved.
