My young son is terrorized every time I have to take him to the doctor. How should I prepare him for our next visit?

I would sit him down and patiently tell him that the doctor is a nice man/woman who wears a white smock to show his/her kindness and friendliness for people. That the doctor is a person who is like angels making sure people are okay and that´s why they have that stethoscope that magically helps examine/listen to the sounds inside our bodies. You could also tell him that the stethoscope is magic as it is in a way... And that he will get a lollipop after the examination (I think a lot of pediatricians have them but bring your own just in case:o) Good luck!

Fool me once,

shame on you!!

Fool me twice,shame on me!

when my son was small,i would explain to him exactly what the doctor was going to do!if  he was going to get a shot,i'd explain that it hurt a little, but if he got sick,it would hurt a lot!and then i'd show him my arm where i had got a shot when i was little!plus,i always and i mean ALWAYS took him to get a small toy,for being so brave!

I was this way when i was a kid,i was terrifid of shots not the doctor, one of the first things i would ask was i going to get a shot,at the last minite i usually got a shot, the only other thing i dident like was i got so scared  every nurse in the house would haft to help hold me down. The thing that helped was i watched as a girl in my class got a shot and was not scared at all.It helped a lot.Good luck and i hope i helped in some way.
