Personally I try to ask about fields I do not know how to start looking for answers in.

The site helped me in many cases ( as you may see I am an old user ) ,and I think the “secret” is to use as many related tabs as possible , it really finds you more people who may help you. As you use the site more you will ask more coherent questions and those has the best chance of getting a rapid precise response.
