I'm enjoying Yedda.

I've made a few online friends (I'm still a relative newbie, so I don't know too many folk as yet) and I enjoy my conversations with those people, in particular.

I think, as with any other forum or group meeting situation, there are many people whom I like (or would, were I to meet them), others for whom I will feel nothing one way or t'other and a final group of people who annoy me so much that I wish they would shut up and go away if they continue to refuse to do me the favor of disappearing completely from the face of the earth.

On the other hand, Yedda is helping me learn tact (I have very little tact; even less patience) as I have to remember that calling people stupid idiots (except to myself) is not helpful and defeats the purpose of this site.

Sure, some people ask irritating questions just to see if they'll get a reaction out of people - but I don't have to read those if I'd rather not. And yes, some people can't formulate a question if their life depended on it - but I can always post a reply asking for clarification. Oh, and there are also the people who could just do the same thing I do and use a search engine to find the answer to their question - but that would mean I wouldn't learn something new, and some of the stuff I've looked up is kind of fun!

On the whole, I'd say I give Yedda 'thumbs up.'

Then, since I'm a veteran as compared to you, I'll say, "Welcome to Yedda!"

I enjoy answering some questions but I also get a feeling of sadness because so many people cannot write a sentence or a question. They can't spell either. I agree that we must practice tact. If a question irritates me I just move along and let someone else answer it. Or I try to be tactful. I suppose the practice is good for me.

Conservation: Paying more and getting less.

I agree with LindaRuth almost every computer comes with a word processor. Use it or at least get a Google tool bar. It's got a spell check and it's free. Don't use text messaging abbreviations. If you want to get the best answers, you have to make yourself understood by everyone. This applies to answers; don't use industry abbreviations, buzz words and phrases.

In defense of some of the poor spellers, I will say that I don't believe the 'Check Spelling' box (which appears under the text box when one is typing an answer) is always in working order.

I don't use Spell Check, but I think someone mentioned in a prior thread that the function does not always work.

Smile  If it's funny, laugh. If it isn't funny, laugh anyway!  Smile

I love Yedda. I pay little to no attention on the spelling, because there are a lot of people from all over the world that answer. I don't look for perfection from others when asking a question. I am probably the worlds worst speller, and my spell check has never worked. I also, would not try to process my comments it word perfect before submitting. If a person does not understand me because I put an e before an I, then I am sorry. I came here to share knowledge, not for a spelling bee. I have a dictionary right next to me.

Other than the grammar police, Yedda is a great forum on just about everything. I would also say that 95 % of the people here are Great. there are always a few that try to spoil it for others, we just ignore them, and sooner than later, they are gone, to cause trouble elsewhere on the net.

Enjoy Yedda...........George~
