Next year in Jerusalem?

Why do Jews in Jerusalem say "Next year in Jerusalem" at the conclusion of both the seder night and Yom Kippur?

Love is the battery of life....

Hi, ------------ Simply to express each person's inner wish that in the next year one will do this prayer in Jerusalem as a simbol to Jewish national survival..... The same identical words were used for years by Jewish people in any place they stay around the world. Please note that many don't pray "next year in Jerusalem" but "Next year in BUILT Jerusalem" "לשנה הבאה בירושלים הבנוייה" emphasising that they pray that the Lord will re-buit Jerusalem as it used to be in the past...... ---------------- Best regards,
