I am trying to work out percentages of weighted percentages

I am trying to work out percentages of weighted percentages - ie I am trying to compare 74% against 78% to see if below or within 5% of this figure.  When done in excel by percentage it comes out as below (ie 74/78x100 = 94.8 difference 5.2% so just below) when done in number within 5 or -5 it comes at within (78-5 = 73 so 74 within).  Which of these formulas are correct and why?  Lucy

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I think the first one is the right one. I'm not familiar with the term "weighted percentages", but the second method just doesn't seem to be weighted...
