They say that women are attracted to “bad boys.” But it seems that “bad boys” often lose their composure and act out on their anger... Why is that attractive?
This is a FANTASTIC question.
We like anger because we can't seem to harness that masculine side of raw anger like a man can. We always seek out what we don't have or would like to possess, so it makes perfect sense that some women find anger, be it conscience or unconsciencely, attractive.
I think anger and losing composure is of unrefined people. Underneath it all, we all have a less refined side, but it takes a certain degree of intelligence to see anger and mean behavior, not as something attractive, but as something primitive, stupid and childish.

A woman looks at a guy with issues and a bad attitude the same way I look at a $300 rustbucket car and see an asphault melting street machine. They want someone they have to change, like a project. It's almost like they see a man getting all beligerent and angry and something clicks in their brain that screams "Kittens!" and all of a sudden he's the most helpless, cute little fuzzball in the world. I'm covered from wrist to neck to toes in tattoos, drive a lifted 4x4, shave my head, listen to heavy metal, and blow kisses at old men on the freeway...my girlfriend adores me because she's the only one who know's it's ALL a facade.

Women like men because they are men, they have spent hundreds of millions of years evolving to subconsciously go for Alpha-males. Like it or not that's the way it is. Emotion wins over logic nearly every time. Imagine you see a tall slim girl, perfect figure, long shiny hair dancing graciously in the morning wind but she's pushing with all her strength against a door that says pull, the logical part of your brain is telling you to stay away but your penis is tell you to have sex with her.
Anger however is not attractive to most women in fact it is a huge turn off. Any woman who is attracted to anger and abuse should be avoided like the plague. Masculinity however is hugely attractive to women if channeled in the right way.
As David said badboys have attractive qualities to them. The biggest problem nice guys have is they are unbelievably boring! Seriously ask any girl on the planet and she will agree with me. Bad boys however are fun, confident, decisive and aren't afraid to speak their mind.
