How many mega pixles should a pocket camera have? Since the human eye can recognize solely aprox. 4 megapixles.

Images taken by a digital camera are small which means that almost everyone will order a larger print size. If the original image in the camera is 4, that would mean there would not be a sharp image when enlarges and it would begin to look like a newspaper photo meaning that each pixel will be seen. Therefore most cameras are designed for 5 or more megapixels.

As harryvan so rightly pointed out, the number of pixels is not the only factor that defines image quality. The resolution is also important. Even if you have a 10 megapixel camera, if you take pictures at low resolution they won't look good.

There are many other parameters that are important to check when buying a digital camera
