I have heard that Wikkipedia may have errors because there is no one to check the entries. Is there a similar site on the web where all entries are reviewed by experts in the field?

Try Scholarpedia.com. They have peer reviews which means that all entries are reviewed by experts in that field. It is still fairly new so you may not find everything you are looking for yet.
