"What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

Probably all that whining is union organizers boo-hooing that they can't unionize you and charge you dues.  Most bad things I have heard about Wal-mart were just some propaganda piece from someone with an axe to grind, not from the employees.

Some people will whine no matter where they are at.  Enjoy your job and your employee discount, and pay no mind to the naysayers.  Your place in society at Wal-mart is justified and contributes to a better world.

By the way, I have never shopped there.  But the prescription prices are certainly attractive.

Golden State Opens Construction College

California state Department of Industrial Relations Director John C. Duncan lauded the opening of the new California Construction College, a state-of-the art construction school that demonstrates California’s innovation in Career Technical Education. The CCC is part of Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s commitment to improve and strengthen Career Technical Education at the high school and community college levels. The programs provided by the school, located on the campus of San Jose City College, will allow professionals in construction to obtain a bachelor, associate, or certificate-level degrees. Apprentices will also be able to receive college credit for work experience received during their apprenticeship training. “This construction college is designed to attract both high school graduates and mid-career skilled workers who are looking for professional careers as construction managers, job estimators, supervisors, project engineers and CTE teachers that require college level training,” Duncan said. The CCC is funded by public and private partnerships. The college received a two-year $500,000 grant made possible through legislation signed by the Governator. Additional funding from the private sector generated $1 million for startup costs. ( less )
