Can a wide wedding ring be reduced by 3 sizes?

Can a wide wedding ring be reduced by 3 sizes?  It has a marquee cut diamond in the center and baguettes on each side.  I wonder if it is possible to add gold to the inside to make it smaller rather than having to cut it.

Smile, it's contagious!

Have you considered having the stones set in another band. Or, just wear it on a nice neck chain. Check with your jeweler about resizing. I think you might find it is unwise to go down 3 sizes. It could be possible but will not wear as well. The stones could fall out easier and the band could crack.

I would just hate to break it up like that.  It is so beautiful the way it is.  I will check with a jeweler this week.  I have lost a lot of weight and my ring is now 3 sizes too big for me.  I suppose I could wear it around my neck if I have to and then get my husband to buy me a simple band to wear on my finger.

As a jeweler I would have to reccommend that you have it cut. If it's made out of gold you'll never even know it was resized, they'll just take it out of the bottom and you'll be set to go.

Because it had a lot of baquettes and small diamonds along the side we decided to find a new setting for it and just put my marquee in it.  It is very beautiful and then my husband and I decided to renew our wedding vows.  What a lovely day that was.
