For someone who does not know wicca, the best thing to do is to ground yourself (connect with Earth and your Higher Power), imagine yourself surrounded by a warm, clear white light that allows you to see and feel but does not allow anything harmful to enter, and finally -- maybe most important -- realize that your mind controls most of what happens in your life anyway. Discipline your thoughts! Immediately release any thoughts of fear, pain, anger, and resentment. Replace them with thoughts of peace, happiness, goodness, and joy --- in fact, spend as much time as possible on positive thinking and energy.
What you resist, persists. So don't try to push "bad things" away -- just change the channel to one that suits you better. And like attracts like; be attracting what you WANT, not what you don't want.
