Religious Views Equal Spiritual Health

Do you think religious views equal better emotional and spiritual health? Are religious people healthier than secular people in terms of their spirit?

65 thumbs up

I think religious people tend to be more healthy mentally and of course spiritually but only if they are applying what they are learning from the Bible. Yes, there is a calmness experienced and a sense of security but they still have health problems. They experience the peace from God as stated at Jeremiah 29:11 and 2 Corinthians 1:3.

6 thumbs up

From my own experience of living without God for years and finally coming to be saved in 2004.  I have grown so much in patience, compassion, and loving others- - even those "difficult" people we all know.... hehe...WinkBut honestly knowing Jesus and having a very personal walk with Him has brought an extreme amount of peace to me, and I tend to be an anxious/worrier type of person.  Used to be very easily upset over, trying to schedule everything, just so and having everything orderly -heaven forbid- something pop up unexpected.  Now I'm okay because I know God will never give me more than I can handle and ultimately my day is all in His loving hands.  He will take care of me and provide all that I need, it may not always be what I want, but it is always enough.  So I will just take a *Breath* and say, "Thank you, Jesus."  And move on.....

Bill Maher Attacks Religion on The View

Yesterday on the View, Bill Maher was on to promote his new movie, Religulous, but it became very quickly apparent that he was there for more than that. Joy asked him if he wanted to "start," and as the conversation (read = attack) immediately started in on religion with Sherry and Elisabeth about Christianity and their beliefs. He called religion an "opinion," and even said that the reason America is extremely religious is because we are "young and dumb" as a nation. According to Maher, "Faith means lack of critical thinking," and he tells Sherry Sheppard that if she thinks God talks to her, she should be in Bellevue (Psychiatric Hospital). I don't think Maher made any friends today on the show, but he's not really well known for that anyway. Oh, and religion is not his only target; he goes after Sarah Palin, as well.

Life is bigger It's bigger than you And you are not me The lengths that I will go to The distance in your eyes Oh no I've said too much I set it up That's me in the corner That's me in the spotlight Losing my religion Trying to keep up with you And I don't know if I can do it Oh no I've said too much I haven't said enough I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try Every whisper Of every waking hour I'm Choosing my confessions Trying to keep an eye on you Like a hurt lost and blinded fool Oh no I've said too much I set it up Consider this The hint of the century Consider this The slip that brought me To my knees failed What if all these fantasies Come flailing around Now I've said too much I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try But that was just a dream That was just a dream
