I don't know how helpful Weight Watcher's is for a diabetic, only your doctor should give approval for the various programs out there.  Because I didn't want to test or take shots after being diagnosed with Type 2, my doctor told me to lose at least 50 pounds.  I started with a dietician trained in diabeties and then continued through LA Weight Loss (with my doctor's approval) for a total loss of 70 pounds.  Now I am pre-diabetic and have keep my weight loss off for over a year.  You can do the same for your self.  Don't let others get you down.  I suggest you go back to your diagnosing doctor and get his help.  Best of luck to you.

I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

I have had Type 1 diabetes for close to 30 years and the best help that I received when it came to planning my meals was when I sat down with a dietician and we worked out a meal plan. Not only do I have diabetes, but I also require a gluten-free diet and I am a vegetarian, so I was not your typical case. We sat together one time and since that time I have stayed with this plan and my bloods sugar have been under control. In addition, if you are interested, here is a web page from the American Diabetes Association called The Diabetes Food Pyramid. Here you will find a meal planning option that divides food into six main groups. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
