Great information on health, diet, and exercise: www.mattmetzgar.com

If you want to permanently lose weight, you have to exercise.  There's no two ways about it.

I would not bother counting calories; instead I would concentrate on eating the right foods.  If you need some help in that area, check out: www.thepaleodiet.com

As for exercise, start with some walking and a bit of weight training and take it slow at first.

So have you tried the WW or other diets yet?  Hope you've had some success!  I wanted to update you on my progress.  As of a week & a half ago I've lost 54 lbs & 39" off my body.  I have to go get weighed tomorrow, I know I've lost more weight & am over 55 lbs lost.  I'm still doing the stuff I mentioned above, I do however slack off here & there.  It's ok to take a little break, but it's important to get back in there.  The complements & encouragement have really kept me going...oh and getting out of plus sized clothing is AWESOME!!! :)  It's funny, I can find clothes on the clearance rack that'll fit me & I forgot how smaller is actually cheaper than the plus sizes.  If I can lose weight, anybody can!!!!!

If you want to do it yourself.

1) Eat healthy, eat steam food, eat vegetables and fruits.  Avoid soda drinks, take aways and junk food

2) Drink plenty of water / green tea

3) have 5-6 healthy meals a day (1 plate only) to stop the cravings.

4) Exercise, look at combining interval and strength training.  You can consider Turbulence Training as one form of exercise.

In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

Weight watchers is good - I recommend it often to my patients who come to me with blood pressure or other health problems

It's an easy to follow system and nearly always shows good results

You have received some excellent answers so far. Personally for me what works best is cardio whether it be running, jogging, spinning, walking. Anything that you can do to raise your heart rate. First and Foremost is check with your physician prior to starting any excersite program. Second if you have limited experience it is a good idea to ask from the support of friends or family that may be more experienced. Or you can always get a personal trainer.

Maintaining a good excersise program is difficult so start slow like just walking for 5 or 10 minutes on the treadmill or outside each day. Commit to little bits at a time say maybe 3 days of 5 minutes. Then gradually adjust in order to allow your body to get used to it. If you can commit to something that simple and maintain it eventually you will see better results then you would receive from any diet.

This all natural way of loosing weight can be frustrating. It is hard and you don't see results sometimes for up to 4 or even 6 months. People usually give up before then and they miss out on the major benefit of an increased metabolism.

I was 40 pounds over-weight and I followed these simple steps. I gradually increased my walk to a run to a spin and after 3 months I begin to get high off of the feeling of my blood flowing and the weight just fell off due to my increased metabolism.

Good Luck try not to get discouraged!

I have not met one person that has not been successfull on Weight Weatchers. You can eat literally anything you want based on your "point" standing.. Based on fiber and sugars and fat calories etc.... It will help you find out what foods are "good" and what foods are "bad".. This may be a good option for you if you lack self-discipline and/or have no direction to go.

I don't use Weight watchers, but it only costs 9$ a week to go to the meetings. So you have information and support. You don't have to buy any foods or supplements. Seriously! This is the way to go!

Another great thing about WW is the people who go to the meetings SHARE what they've learned... For instance.. I had a friend that did WW for YEARS and actually helped with the meetings and she always shared what she found out... "These fudgecicles are 1 point" type of sharing... SO... I would highly recommend it for the base moral support!

I currently have a nutrionist as i'm not looking to "loose weight" but to "loose fat". When I was using the WW model I did loose weight.

Weight lose is a lifetime commitment and a lifestyle change.. if you keep up with the change - you will be successfull.

Nutrition is not an "easy" subject to just pick up.
