I've been a total couch potato since about age 30. I'm now 63. I never wanted to exercise, but due to my deteriorating health, I figured that it was about time I started. At the same time, a friend of mine had the misfortune of having a stroke. After his recovery, he felt the same. We made a pact that we would join a city gym (becauese they are cheaper than a commercial gym). We figured that with each other encouraging the other to exercise, and if we didn't comply, the other would never let him forget it. So far, it has worked.
In summary, get a friend to exercise with you, and you will be more inclined to encourage each other. You should continue the routine at your age; keep in practice, and eventually you will not want to quit.
