What do I wear to the upcoming holiday parties?

I'm not sure what to wear for all of the holiday parties coming up. My boyfriend suggested  buying dresses for the upcoming Christmas and New Years parties. Am I expected to buy new outfits? I'm new at this "holiday scene" and have no clue how to dress. Any ideas?

Always look your best because you never know who you're going to meet.

I don't think you need to go all out and purchase a ton of new clothes. You could probably get away with buying one or two nice shirts to mix and match for the different holiday and new years parties. I would suggest asking your girlfriend what she thinks as she will have a better idea of what your wardrobe needs for the upcoming holiday season.

Hi,

I personally would try to wing it with the clothes I have. I would suggest going out and buying some new clothes only if you feel like it and not because you feel you have to. Even if you come to the conclusion that you want to buff up your wardrobe I really wouldn't exaggerate. The spirit of the holidays has little to do with what we wear and a lot more to do with our feeling inside.

Hope you have a happy holiday.

What to Wear to a Holiday Party

On one hand, the holidays can be exciting — yet, on the other hand, they can be panic-inducing. It seems like there's never anything appropriate in your closet to wear to the many different events you'll be attending. Yeah, your ubiquitous black shift dress is always a safe bet, but wouldn't it be nice to wear something different for a change? We think so. Here are six suggestions for what to wear to a holiday party this stylish season.

Cocktail Party

Holiday cocktail parties call for something slightly seductive. And by seductive, we mean subtly sexy, not tarty. You'll know you've picked the right dress the minute you put it on because you'll feel like a cross between Audrey Hepburn and Madonna. Take this stretch-satin strapless number by Chetta B.($335), for example. The dark scarlet color adds pop to the perennially elegant strapless silhouette, as does the removable belt with jeweled buckle. Best of all? If strapless makes you squeamish, then simply pull up the concealable attached straps for extra support. This is the dress that all of your girlfriends will want to borrow, even though they might not tell you so
