When you fill out a job application, by law, you do not have to list your birth date. But, you do have to complete other sections of the application such as date of graduation. That is where they find your age in applacations and resumes. In some states their are State agencies that monitor "non-discriminating" hiring practices. As a business owner, some of my best employees were over 65. Imagine hiring someone with 30 or 40 years of business knowledge and work skills. One worked for me for 20 years and finally left at 84 due to med problems. Many retired, got tired of playing Golf and Gardining and came back in to the work place. Incredible loyalty! Better absentism than many of the younger workers. It would be very hard to prove age discriminaton. Consider perhaps finding an employer that is seeking your skills. Don't expect to make what you made before. Our country has changed its priorities. Employers no longer want your skills and experience, they want to find people to do a job as cheaply as they can afford. If you have a Masters Degree and 30 years experiance, they will hire the college grad with Masters just because it's cheaper.
