The water source to my home is supplied by a well ...

the water source to my home is supplied by a well.  after using water for a very short period it shuts off for four to five minutes then comes back on only to repeat the process.  any suggestions what the problem may be?

There are several possibilities.  To be of any help, I would need a little more info., such as: do you have a submersible pump or a jet pump?  Do you have a modern-style "pressure tank"?  Does the water come on at full pressure and stay running at full pressure until it cuts out, or does it come on at full pressure and then gradually lose pressure until its just a trickle?
