Well Gator, It seems to me that it would depend on what you set it up for. I am not real familiar with thse systems, however I would beleive that the timers would have alot to do with the amount of water used. Now if I were in the market for one, I would look for the economical types. I would also see to it that, when the weather is expected to be rainy; I could shut the system down from an easily accessible point. No sense in watering while it's pouring down. It depends on lots of factors like which irrigation product you have installed. How you have planned your irrigation system? Area of your garden and water requirement for the plants. ?
