How do I find the war medals/ribbons my kin should have earned?

I would like to do a search, I guess on a government site, to see what medals/ribbons my dad and father-in-law should have been awarded for their service in World War II and the Korean War. I don't know if I need a SS # or war issued #, I have both. Over the years I have a mismatch of ribbons and medals and would like to know exactly what they are due so I can have them framed.

Here are 2 web sites that have to do with medals from World War II and the Korean War.

You can also go to Google Images and type the following: medals World War II, medals Korean War and you will find numerous web sites.

You need to determine what medals/ribbions they were awarded, the only place you will find that will be on their DD-214 which is part of their service record. To obtain copies of service records go to: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html
