If we look at the daily interactions between people on our planet each day, there are countless good things happening which are not being reported on the news. But, one does not have to look far to see the overwhelming amount of good works and acts of random kindness that is going on.
This was not so much a fact of life, in many societies, in centuries gone by. People were not as willing to reach out and lend a hand, to those they do not know, as they are now willing to do.
In my opinion, most people on earth want peace. The problem is getting the corporations that own the world's governments to start reflecting the will of the people instead of the will of greed. While the people of earth, over all, want to live less violent lives, our nations governments are the first to go to war, to initiate torture, to imprison people rather than rehabilitate people and on and on. With most of the world's wealth owned by 2% of the population...the power is tipped in a negative way.
I think once governments can reflect the will of the people, in that money would be spent on health, education, reconstruction -building instead of tearing down -when the poor are not getting shunted aside so that rage begins to be felt... when industry has to stop polluting our rivers and streams...
Then...I think we will have not only learned to live a more peaceful life, but will have taught our leaders to do the same.
This would seem impossible, but almost every spiritual and religious grouping expresses a feeling that we are in a new age, a new beginning. A time of the ending of repression and a time of caring for one another. The Aztec calendar points to the real beginning of that time as December of 2012. I have heard from many seers as well, that 2008 will mark the time of the beginnings of peace upon the planet. This sounds like a miracle, but perhaps it will just be that "100th monkey" thing where more people are wanting peace, after seeing the results of violence, than are wanting war, and the scales will tip towards love for one another.
I sure hope so.
