I want to enjoy my new home ... help!!

My husband and I have just built our dream home and after a year we have finally moved in. I am absolutely in love with my house but the problem is that I have 'New Car' syndrome with it!! Basically I am too scared to do anything in the case that I may scratch, break  or damage something!!! How can I get past this and actually live and enjoy my new home?!!

Hi there, and Congrats on your new home! Aw, I have been there for sure, you may feel this way for a short time, but as you gradually incorporate your surroundings with things that you have or have had in your former home, you will find it much easier to "just get in and go" with your new home.  I would start by first decorating, or applying your home with furnishings that are a great comfort to you. Then as things start to settle in for you, you will notice that you feel more at ease at getting it a little "messy" (not literally) but it is such a good feeling to get into a new place and everything is so nice and neat and fresh,  try those things and I wish you the best on your new home!!! Let me know how things go for you,  Melissa

A house that does not look lived-in is not a home, it is just a house. I think you should find several out-of-the-house activities. Then you will enjoy coming back to your beautiful home. One of these activities could be shopping in second-hand stores for nice thngs (old) to decorate your home. I wish you many years of joy and happiness with your family in your new home.

This may seem a little bit off the wall, but why not make a deliberate mess? If you simply cannot bring yourself to do it... Have a party or invite some kids over~ neighbors kids, nieces, nephews, whoever... Let them mess up the house (not too bad of course) but just enough to make it a bit of a hassle to clean up... It will take the "walking on eggshells" feeling away right away!

Congrats on your new home! Cool
