Yes!  I think that he is a great mentor for children in all walks of life. I think it's great to know that he is tied to a pastor, influential mentors, friends that back him up (meaning the people), and took his teachings to heart.  That's what make a great President.  He is intelligent, handsome and family orinented. And the real joy to my heart, is that he is Black.

I'm writing from way across the pond, Brisbane Australia, but what IS it with so many conservative Americans that you seem to think that you should make an exception for Obama from the normal courtesy you've always paid to your President, of whatever party?   Is it because he is of mixed race?  Is it because his background has enabled so many people of ill will to generate totally false "urban legends" about him, making him the devil incarnate?   You're a democracy, for heaven's sake.  That means your system allows and encourages diversity of viewpoints, and works because you pay people mutual respect.  If you aren't prepared to do that, you're no better than any number of tinpot cultures around the world who will *never* make it.   Many Americans (not to mention foreigners) weren't keen on your last President, but paid him the respect due to his office.   You must have a poor opinion of YOURSELVES if you don't believe that children, with parental guidance as necessary, can't listen to your head of state without the milk being curdled and brains addled.

Yes.  I think Obama is an exemplary human being and the kind of role model I would choose for my children.  I don't give a damn what color his skin is.  In fact, I've never, ever given a damn what color anyone's skin is.  It saddened me deeply that the media gave so much attention and made such a big deal out of Obama being the first, "Black President," of the United States.  Who the Hell cares what color his skin is?!  The fact that the color of his skin is still a big issue in the United States serves as a reminder of just how little we've evolved as a culture.  I look forward to the day when skin color becomes something that is not even worth mentioning.  We don't make a big deal out of someone having two ears, do we?  We don't make a big deal out of someone having two feet, do we?  So, why then do we make a big deal out of something else someone is born with such as skin color?  I don't get it.  I love the man.  I voted for him.  And, I would be delighted if he were to counsel my children.  I have only one complaint, which is as follows:

If you're reading this, Barack: I want you to know that I voted for you for one reason and one reason only.  That is, you promised to end the senseless war in Iraq and bring our troops home.  You haven't held true to your promise yet.  Instead, you have increased the number of our troops in Iraq by the tens of thousands.  I'm sorely disappointed and feel that I've been tricked.  You're doing quite the opposite of what you promised and I don't like it.  Barack, you have one job and one job only.  You are, "The Commander and Chief:" that is to say that you are the head of the United States Military.  Just as the previous two Bushes didn't need congress' approval to send our troops over to Iraq, you do not need congress' approval to bring them back home.  So, I'm asking you, "What's the Goddamned problem, anyway?!  What's the hold-up!?  To quote your inaugural speech, when will you be ready to, "put away childish things?"

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Yes, in a heart beat I would let my grandchildren listen to the President. There are enough of our children dropping out of school, getting pregnant, on dope, killing, robbing and you name it. If parents took enough time with their kids, as much as they do protesting against the President, maybe the crime rate would not be as high as it is. I feel honored that the President wants to talk to our kids about education and making something out of themselves.

Hate is a powerful thing. It is a sad day, when some people hate the President (a black man), so badly and want to see him fail so much, that they would rather keep their kids out of school, rather than let them hear something that may help them in the long run. To be honest, some of them don't need to miss a day out of school, with some of the bad grades. Some can't even read on an 8th grade level and they are seniors.

Obama has his education and a good one at that. Our kids are striving to get where he already is. It is a pitiful parent, that would let hate over rule common sense.

Be Blessed

From the old movie, South Pacific a song with the line:  "They must be carefully taught..."

Just think what is 'taught' (reinforced) by denying a child to listen to the president of the United States.  The "message" to the child?

Ideally, everybody should be watching--parents at home, kids at schools--and then a discussion take place.  Compare notes, agree or disagree.  Learning at various levels could occur.

The "censorship" route is the last road to travel.

All parents should have been forewarned, and those who chose to hold their cupped hands over tender ears, are to be congratulated.

Listening to the speech, here's what was diciphered:

1.  If you picked out certain letters in certain words in the speech, that could be arranged to spell out:  "Socialism now."  "Death to America."  "Kill the filthy rich."  "Eat your parents."  "I am an alien bent on your destruction."

This is the God's truth.

So, don't be fooled by the outer messages of "students being the future who will create new energy sources, and create students who will be protecting our environment."

Don't be fooled when the words were spoken saying to, "....fight poverty, crime and discrimination, and make our country more fair and free."  Doesn't that sound like communist-speak?

Remember those connecting letters that spell out Obama's real hidden agenda.  Sure, he said for our kids to take personal responsibility, don't spend so much time in front of the TV or Xbox.  And when he debunked getting fame and fortune by being a rap star or basketball star or reality TV star, all parents should know better.

Congratulations to those parents and grandparents who kept their kids at home.

 Be Thankful

 Speak softly

 Let your love shine...

When the President of the United States  wants to counsel or speak to my children/grandchildren it will be viewed by me as a priviledge.(we have a baby picture of one of my grandaughters with Vice President Dan Quayle and we did not like him one bit.)

The office of the President of the United States of America alone must be respected, no matter what his/her race or sex.  There will be the same kind of uproar over every move our first female president makes.  And the reasons will be even more shallow than the ones for the male presidents.

President Obama is as white as he is black.

How can one hate him for something he has absolutely no control over?  This stately, intelligent individual was elected to the office, (not by me by the way)and he is making some mistakes, but we have got to stop tearing our presidents down so violently.  It does our country an injustice to be so cruel to our leaders.

President Bush did not deserve all the flack he received either.  I know we have free speech, but really?  Don't you think we tend to go overboard on the criticism?
