I want Google Transit!

What's needed to get Google Transit to work in my area? Do I need to nag Google or the local bus companies? Can the conversion of routes and timetables to Google Transit format be done by volunteers? What are the file formats that Google Transit uses anyway? Is it XML?

Google does not select cities / agencies to include in Google Transit -- agencies decide to participate and supply Google with data in the Google Transit Feed Format (GTFS).  The best way to get your local agency included in Google Transit is to write a letter to your local agency.
