Rejected slogan #235:
I am running a Vista-based MS Media Center with a Hauppauge PVR150MCEKIT capture card, which is connected to the cables box.
While the overall quality of the MC video / sound playback is excellent, the quality of stuff recorded from the cables is, well, awful. The image is fuzzy and low contrast and the sound is sometimes desyncrhonized.
Any ideas on how to improve the recording / playback quality for recorded videos?
Had the same problem. Try installing a different MPEG2 codec. Microsoft included their own codec in the Vista version. And it sucks.
Emule and Install WinDVD or Nvidia PureVideo, then run this utility http://mediacenterexpert.blogspot.com/2006/07/vista-media-center-decoder-utility.html to tell MC which decoder to use.
