i am irish/canadian on a j1 cultural exchange program. I would like to stay longer, can i do this??
The extension for a J1 visa is usually done in a yearly manner. You should check with your institute if they have some special regulation for the procedure . You should apply two months before your current J-1 expires. You will have to state the reason for your extension and to show approval from you institute. You'll have to fill this form and apply it through your school.
Good Luck
