C:/Windows/winuscn32.exe keeps popping up at starup. after looking it up on the web....seems i have a virus. how can i delete it. i have vista home edition
If you already have antivirus software or a firewall program in use, usually opening that up will help you quarantine and treat viruses.
If you don't have antivirus software installed, visit the Vista Security Software Providers website for ways to get rid of the virus and software you can install.
But, if the virus is already developed enough to cause major harm to your system, send it to Geek Squad or another professional technical group to have them remove the virus for you. Hope this helps, and good luck!

There are many versions of this exe file...most are considered as trojons and should be removed or stopped from startup.
1. Use Windows Live Care Free Scanner and if its a bad version then the scanner will remove it and the Scab and Repair is absolutely FREE:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm
2. Installing and using another Windows supported product called Start Up Inspector also a FREE application that is very simple and easy to use even for a novice is worth considering to go read about and then install and use.
Start Up Inspector
Even we computer techs argue back and forth on weather this exe is god or bad at times pending which version it is. Windows media player actually needs one of the versions to work properly, and of course Windows Live One Care FREE Scanner can detect and change it to the right version and or remove the bad versions.
Rule of thumb! Good things do not pop up at start up normally...When one does I question it highly..ok?
