Are veils good or bad in western society???

What are your views on veils (or baka as i think they are called) worn by asian ladies in our western society?

is it a good thing being open to other cultures, or do you feel intimidated by them?

I wouldn't put it as intimidating but as different, We must learn to respect people with other beliefs than ours. It's a great thing to listen or be "open" to other cultures as you put it. You may see very different perspectives.

This country is made of diversity.

One thing we value is our freedom to be ourselves.

As Americans (especially the ones who live in large cities) we adjust very quickly to unusual modes of dress.

In small communities we tend not to adjust as readily, but we do in time.

It is only natural for the human being to stare at something that appears strange or new, but it is also very natural for the human being to adjust and accept another's "strangeness."

i myself repatriated to a little different culture and in the beginning did not want to assimilate thinking my original culture is better or at least better in the ways i did not want to accomodate

then i found myslef outcast

the good example is religion which is aactually yr question cos wearing veils by islamic women has to do with their backward religion

after my own experience i discovered that people that dont want to accomodate at least in the surface do bad to themselves being themselves the reason for their outcating by others locals

this is what is happening to me and i am wearing no veil

insted i am wearing my 'theres no god' veil

and i get cast for it

so why wouldnt i pretend i have nothing against their stupid religion

because it puts me down that i have to hide my brains

it is as if richard dawkins had to hide his the god illusion book

instead he had it printed and is selling well

so wheres the difference between me and him

nowhere in essence

only he somehow earned the right to say loudly theres no god while i cant earn this right

i guess id have to ask him how one earns right to say loudly theres no god or to wear veil thinking its ok that women hide faces for their men

but richard is a top biologist not a sociologist or psychologist so i think ill ask them and right now!
