In the vegetable garden, what are the plants that give the most produce?
Grown right tomatoes are probally the most productive....and lots of different kinds. Next I would say Zukinies, then peppers, you can get three or four crops of lettace in if you start early with straw and end late with a window lid ..onions also do pretty well.

In my experience, you can get excellent production from tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and pole beans. There are several types of each vegetable, so you can choose those you like best and add variety over time. You can also maximize your space and ease you garden upkeep by supporting the plants on trellises, cages or poles.
winter squash, summer squash, carrots, tomatoes, cukes, peas, green beans, radishes all produce well, you have to keep them moist, and for everything but peas and beans work some compost into the ground, I grow in 4' X 12' beds and broadcast lettuces, green onions, carrots rather than growing in rows. it concentrates nutrients, and they grow so heavy you don't have to weed a lot.
pole beans
Try potato, tomato, garlic (planted in the fall by separating cloves and planting each one) beans, lettuce ( plant early May and seed and plant again in August or Sept. depending on the climate), Swiss chard is good also so is the spinach which can be seeded in the fall and harvested early in spring (earlier if covered with plastic throughout the winter).
most vegetables give good products depending on how you care for them. with gardening some year are not the same .http://gardening-tips-idea.com/How-to-Grow-Vegetables.html
From my experience some of the most productive garden vegetables are peas, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes and zucchini. Radishes grow quite well too. It really pays to check your soil for certain nutrient levels. We have parts of our garden where peas really flourish and other parts that they do quite dismally. Soil testing has explained to us the reason why. The results also help us to make informed decisions on which vegetables to plant where....for optimum production. Nirb, are you going to do this planting in Israel? Didn't think so. Most vegetables grow good in all areas of the country if planted at the time for your zone.It shows this on your seed packets and if you buy plants they come out when the time is right for planting outside after all frost or freeze warnings are passed.I have found that only a few plants of Cucumbers goes a long, long way. Tomatoes do well and multiply untill late in the fall, Pole beans or bush bean do exceptionally well and there are so many others.Ask some of your friends or neighbors that know something about gardening and I bet they can tell you what to plant and what insects to look out for. They can probably tell you how to squash the little varmits too. Good luck next year.
