When one is an extremist by its temper - it is probably better for the human kind if he becomes a vegan rather than a guerilla fighter. Vegans claim that egg and dairy production cause animals suffering as killing them for meat, because modern factory farming treats them mechanically. Eggs, they claim, are produced by keeping chickens in small cages and in painful conditions, and dairy cattle are bred artificially and, caged for long terms and are injected with hormones to make them produce unnaturally high quantities of milk. Vegans avoid using leather, wool and fur as well. Some vegans avoid even honey, because they believe that the collection of honey is harmful to bees. Many vegans avoid sugar, because some sugar is made by using charcoal made from the bones of dead cattle.

Your question sounds like more of a challenge than a true quest for knowledge.  Judging by the tone of your question, I can see that you already have a preconceived notion of vegans and I doubt anything you read here will change your mind.  Maybe you've encountered some of the more militant vegans that attempt to berate you for eating meat or drinking milk.  It's unfortunate that extremists cast a bad light on all the good people that happen to share some of the same beliefs.

Veganism  isn't all herbs and pasta.  There are hundreds (possibly thousands) of delicious and healthy fruits and vegetables to make up a balanced diet, including cancer-fighting mushrooms and broccoli, which is surprisingly high in protein.  There are also soy products and beans, which tend to provide the majority of the protein in a vegan diet as well as providing minerals and vitamins.  As you mentioned, there are also pastas and breads, although many of these contain eggs so careful attention is paid to ingredient lists on these products.

With all of these options available to them, vegans can happily and healthily avoid the products that go against their beliefs.  It's no secret that many animals are mistreated in food production, even those that aren't killed, and this tends to be the basis of the beliefs of many vegans.  Others have a somewhat religious belief that it simply isn't right for humans to pilfer the resources of animals. Many religions, including Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, and especially Jainism, teach that ideally life should always be valued and not willfully destroyed for unnecessary human gratification.  Still others make the choice for health reasons.  Many people have allergies or intollerances that prevent them from eating animal products, while some simply believe that nutrients from plants are healthier.

Whatever their reasons, vegans have a right to choose this lifestyle just as much as you have the right to choose yours.  Don't challenge their beliefs simply because it may not be the right choice for you.  And don't let a small extreme group cast a shadow on the hundreds of thousands of loving and accepting individuals who have beliefs different from yours.

Vegan is not a religion - it's a way of eating and living, every person find their own way though it (or not) some vegan eat honey, some don't. Just like some wear wool and some don't.

As far as vegan diet - you are forgetting one of the main source of nutrition for vegans which is grain and beans, which contain both protein and carbohydrates. Some vegan also take food supplements to fill it for the vitamins and minerals they don't get from milk and meat. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, I tried it a couple of times and because of some medical problems, my body just caved in after about a year. When I did keep out of meat and eggs, iI didn't miss it so much, there are so many other good things to eat.

Not even pasta as it contains egg. They dont eat Animals or their By-products. They also dont wear any animal by products- Wool, leather etc. Working alongside vegans can be a very smelly experience as they do eat a lot of bean products. But are very calm people. Working and socialising with them, they are very hard to annoy. I tried it for a week to see what it was like but the taste of Soy Milk killed me but the smell of homemade beef burders with cheese and bacon put an end to it. The other dishes i ate were very delicious and healthy.
