I have an older Compaq computer that doesn't have ...

I have an older Compaq computer that doesn't have an ethernet port......can i somehow connect my ethernet cord to this computer using some sort of adapter that fits in the regular phone jack connection on the back of the computer? We just got an ehternet service provider, so i'm kinda' new at this ehternet stuff. I also have a router. thanks, anyone!

No you arent able to use the phone type port, as that is there for the dial up modem. It is however possible to buy a network card which goes inside the computer, connecting to the PCI slot.
