Asked about “AOL Mail Help”

Is this url legit or a fraud attempt

My symantec virus Deleted an incoming email.  Since then i have not been able to send out any emails. When I attempt outgoing mail I get a messge to click on a url and complete the image puzzle and resend the mail.  When I click on the link

http://challenge.aol.com/en/us/spam.html it ask for a sign in and my password. I am worried that it is a fraud attempt. I have run a full symantec scan it found nothing. Is the url legit? should I sign in and give it my password? HELP I really want to be able to send mail. I don't know anything about computers.  Thank you for any help you can offer

AOL Mail - Community Support Team

This URL: http://challenge.aol.com/en/us/spam.html (which is the one you listed above) is legit. Its possible that you had a a virus using your email account to send spam. And sounds like Symantec removed that virus. AOL saw the spam coming from the account verify the account using that "challenge page". This makes sure that you're now back in control of the acocunt. After you verify the account, I also highly recommend that you change your password immediately.

As a first step you can try computer restore. Restore back to a few days before the problem developed.  If no help contact Symantec tech. support
