This is a very hard question to answer. It seems like the Americans don't know the answer to this question themselves. I would suspect it would be along the lines of creating stability so that the Iraqi government can stay in power and fight the terrorists who will no doubt try to over through the government once the US army leaves Iraq.

the goal is to continue stabilizing iraq. iraq is now wanting the u.s. to give them a timetable on our troop withdrawl. by the end of the year there will be less u.s. troops in iraq. there are appx. 3 brigades coming home.

drawback...we are deploying at least 33,000 soldiers in january 2009 and they are being sent to afghanistan....that is the country we should have occupied in the first place.
