If I remember correctly, it was a roof organization for numerous non-profit organizations. The purpose was to take money out of a person's paycheck and give it to this organization, and they in-turn would give the money to organizations, elimininating the need to have people give to so many different organizations. I do not live in the US any more so, I think it is probably best if your husband talks to someone where he works for the best answer.
