Thanks for your honost response.
You are right, in that children do not think about color, or reasons for opinions beyond that. In fact what you bring out goes beyond what I was truly concerned about in posting this. However in reading what your thoughts are on these pictures; inverbatum; I now find a different feeling about them altogether.
In viewing them I was just an outraged parent, but now I see them as something as, according to what you are saying; hypocritical!
The welfare of this country and what this president does with it is of utmost importance to me. But the portrayal of this 'unknown friend' is like a challenge to both sides of that coin! Your response only brought to fore this conclusion. What is the concern of this 'unidentified friend' and her parents? What is the point of this child being shown so publicly?
This is like an open invitation to anyone with morals for their own child's saftey. If my kid is friends with Miley Cirus, I suppose I would expect the exposure. But I would also expect the decency of the press, and WHO EVER controls them in a given situation, to protect the indentity of my child . . . and not make her face so visible. My reason as a parent??? High profile, security, identity, unwanted publicity. All of these q's come to my mind as a parent in the Miley Cirus case. But my child having a sleepover with the President's daughter (who by the way is only about 8?) at CAMP DAVID????!!??
Im just saying, is this what we have to look forward to for the next 4 years?? I mean this is not just 'normal'!
The President of the United States of America is not just 'normal' He is my leader of this free country. He chose to lead us, and was elected to do so. It is not just a 'normal' job where dad just goes to the office!
The 'office' of the President of the United States is not something that should be taken lightly. Mr. Obama is NOT JUST a dad going to the office. He is our leader. If he's just going to the 'office' then we are in heap 'o sssshhht'!!
Mary, you are right in all that you say. Children play with whom ever. The President's children and whoever they play with should be off limits.
However, these pictures go beyond that scope, and open the forum for questions and comments. Because of the scope of the history that goes along with these pictures, questions and comments will follow.
