How to turn into a better drinker?

Usually when I go out people tell me I am an amateur in alcohol drinking. Well I feel like surprising them. I am looking for some serious drinkers to tell me how to increase my drinking skills. A friend told me I should consume a shot of olive oil before drinking and this delays the alcohol absorption in the body. Is it true?

The most important thing you can do before going out to drink, is eat. Drinking on an empty stomach is a sure recipe for a terrible night, and a terrible hangover the next morning. Before you start drinking its best to eat food which is high on oil. Olive oil is a good idea. Not only because its supposedly better for drinking, but also because its a healthy form of oil. Its also good to eat slow-absorbing food like pasta and meat, in order to keep your stomach padded for a long time.

While you drink, its could be wise to consume some water or non-alcoholic beverages. If this might be too shameful, you can always get OJ and tell everybody you're having a screwdriver, or Apple juice which looks a lot like whiskey.

Most importantly, don't drink too much. In my opinion, a good drinker is not a person who can drink much, but a person who can handle what he drinks. I truely frown upon people who drink too much and then act embarrassingly. One should always remain well mannered, even when he is drunk. So never go over your limits, and know when to stop drinking. Remember you don't look too cool lying on the floor passed out in your own vomit.

Always drink responsibly, and never drive drunk!

Drink shandy instead!

In all seriousness, you should really just enjoy being a lightweight... I do!

By being a lightweight you are getting into a relaxed state and having a good time quicker, you're putting less straing on your liver and other organs, and most importantly you're saving loads of money.

I don't think you should be looking for ways to consume more alcohol, but if you are about to have a heavy night then eat a stodgy meal before hand so that there's plenty in  your stomach to soak it all up. And if you just want to trick your mates and benefit your body at the same time then sneak off for a pint of water after every pint of beer.

Stay safe!Innocent

My experience is that before starting a real binge, it is always good to swallow a couple of cheese cubes [1.5cm x 1.5cm x 1.5cm]. This gives a protective layer to the inside walls of gizzard. Thus, enabling slow absorption and helps preventing acidity.

4 thumbs up

I have a friend who, when he goes out with these Chinese guys who drink like fish, has a technique, where he dumps his shotglass, or sake cup under the table when they're not looking. At the end of the night, he has his wits about him, and everyone else is sloppy drunk.
