On what true story was "21" based on?
The movie is based on the book "Bringing Down the House". The book itself was said to be loosely based on a true story but in the book there were many details that were fictitious.

wut?? no it wasnt...it was based on my best friends uncle, thad mcnulty, look him up...there was a book written on him and they turned it into a movie

according to IMDB, Ben Mezrich has a writing credit for writing the book "Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions" on which the movie is based.
