If you put another country's name before America, you are showing your allegiance to that country first. I have met many people from foreign countries and they always say I am an American citizen and proud of it. It means so much to my family and I.
And yet people that are born here identify themselves with African American, Latino American, Mexican American, Native American and so forth. Are we not just Americans?
