I have to agree with Christian. I think you should approach the guy (when he's in town) and confront him with your concerns. In this way, you will be able to see his reaction "live" to what you are saying (and this will take away the possibility that he says to you that he has to go and will call you back later). Knowing how heavy a topic this may be, be prepared to get an answer you are not expecting or even an answer that you dread. That way, you will not be disappointed with the worst outcome. (Like the saying: "Assume the worst, but hope for the best.") And if the worst is what you get, be prepared to move on and seek a better relationship with someone else. Good luck!
