I think what makes travel agents good is being update and having lots of connections. A travel agent should know the deals he is offering by experiencing them himself, he should always look for new stuff and attractions. He should also make lots of connections with other travel agents so they can exchange groups when needed. He should be familiar with the tourist market in the area the dominating tourist companies and he should always hire experienced guides who have a good reputation this will help him attract many groups. Once you build your way up money comes in naturally , you get the same people working with you.
