Are there tools in Linux for generating source code from an object file produced by gcc?

You might be able to use ObjDump, but it won't generate back a .c/.cpp file that you can recompile.
It will, however, give you more information and mostly assembler code that might help you to figure out a few things.
The search for people who can answer your question continues for as long as needed - until you find the answer you were looking for.
