My tomatoe plants are full of tomatoes but when do they get ripe and turn red /ready to use and eat?

Tomatoes ripen from the inside out, so you can actually pick when orange. But depends on weather, watch when its cold at night it takes longer.

Be patient, it will happen.  You can tell by feeling the fruit. Unripe is hard, ripe the surface gives a little but is firm, over ripe the fruit gets soft.  Not all tomatoes turn red.  Various colors include yellow, purple, black, orange and green.

If you planted your tomatoes in May then they will be ready to eat in August. But very simply put,,,when they turn nice and red, they are ready. Some types of tomatoes are ready a little sooner. You can tell when they are ready. Trust me. :)
