Any thoughts about Obama's visit to Iraq?

Here we have a prime example of an activist media in full bloom.

McCain has been there 6 times and not one network anchorperson was on any of the trips.

Now, finally, Obama decides to 'visit' (his word not mine) and ALL 3 NETWORK ANCHORS will be along for the ride.

What we're going to see, folks, are political commercials for Obama disguised as news stories!

This is just flat-out wrong...and 'the Left' has a fit about Rush Limbaugh and the "Fairness Doctrine"....WHERE is the fairness here?

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

If Obama is smart which I believe he is, he will get to the real story about what's happening over there. Mccain's visits were supervised tours. Obama needs to talk to the generals of course but he also needs to interview the troops. Mccain visited Iraq 6 times and he could have invited the media if he wanted to. That was a choice that he made. Obama has been right to say that we need to focus our attention on afganistan and that we need more troops there. The government has covered up this mess long enough. I hope Obama get to the real truth and the media will be there to pick it up as soon as it happens. I have all of the respect in the world for Mccain but that doesn't mean that he is the best man for the job. We need a change. Mccain has been in Washington 20 years and nothing has changed. Now that he's the republican nominee, he has suddenly become the expert. Where was he 4,000 lives ago before our young men and women lost their lives in a war that should never have been waged. Obama may not have been  there as long as Mccain but he could see that this was an unnessasary war and spoke out against it. It is about time that we had a President that represented the United States in a way that we should be seen by other countries and win back the respect of the world. He should take all the media he needs to take to show the world that America is back.

Tippy, your mistaken.

1.  McCain's trips were NOT supervised tours. He went specifically to speak to the military people (he was criticized in the media for not spending more time with 'the people'

2.  McCain could have (you're correct) invited the media he did not...nor did they fall all over themselves to volunteer as they have with Obama.

3.  The last time we elected a president for 'change' we had Jimmy Carter and look what we got with him (he at least understood what it meant to be a military man)...20% interest rates and gas lines....and don't forget we had war declared on us by Iran when they invaded our embassy.

4.  Obama saw the war was unnecessary AFTER he voted FOR it and decided to make a run for the presidency.

You're all missing the point.

McCain made 6 'fact finding trips' to Iraq.

Obama is making a 'visit' (HIS word, not mine) there.

Words mean things folks. They show how each views the same situation.

Whether Obama's visit is a tour, a visit or a fact finding mission, I believe he will be successful. Two of the best presidents that we have ever had (JFK and Bill Clinton) were called inexperienced when they first ran for office because they dared to think outside of the box. They were very successful in the White House. We need to get rid of the ideology that just because a candidate has not served in the military that they cannot be an effective leader. That is why they have advisors that do have the military experience.

Some of the best leaders that I have known are the ones that may not have had the hands on experience but had fresh ideas and tactics to tackle the job and turn things around. If we keep doing the same old thing we are going to come up with the same results. John Mccain being a maverick as he may be called (everyone is entitled to their own opinion) has the old Washington politics embedded in him. This is not what I call change for the direction this country wants to be headed in. I believe Obama would make a great president despite what others make think. I just pray that  he is around to serve out his full term.

And what did mccaine learn on his six trips? The same as obama will learn. Nothing that either one of them did not know before. The generals will have the same story as ever and the lower ranks are worth listening to in order for them to tell him their gripes. It will be a great morale booster for them to air their gripes to someone they think will do something about them by bringing them home. I spent six years in the air force and remember what career soldiers would say. "THE ONLY WAY TO GET FAST PROMOTIONS AND DECORATIONS IS IN WAR".  Aside from the visits to the two battle fronts, his visits with the other world leaders are much more significant. He will get a handle on these leaders who he will have to deal with after he is elected. Further, even in a small way he might help to repair the damage to the u.S. Interests that bush caused.

Tippy, you're STILL missing the point.

The 3 major news networks are all falling over themselves to get "exclusives" while there with Obama.

I was mistaken, McCain has made EIGHT trips there and NOT ONE was covered by the networks.

There is a bias in the media (SURPRISE!!!!!!!) big time towards Obama, unlike any other election.

JFK was never derided as being inexperienced. He was too young and too Catholic, that is what the fear was. But, unlike Obama, while he was in the senate he DID things...he sponsored and co-sponsored legislation. Obama has done NEITHER. By the official records of Congress he is THE MOST liberal of all. Yes, even more liberal than Hillary.....THE MOST LIBERAL OF ALL.

Clinton's experience was never an issue either...he had run a State as governor.

WHAT has Obama ever done on a large scale that would prepare him for the Presidency....forget all the "change' verbiage. LOOK AT HIS RECORD. He has NO large scale successes or experience from which to draw upon.

I agree the country DOES need 'change'. It does not need the "throw more money at the problems" type changes that Obama is suggesting. That has never worked....look at the records of the Great Society, the education system, the prison system, the welfare system and social security. We need to change to get government LESS in our lives. Had there been less government our schools would be educating our kids not just warehousing them, a postage stamp would not cost 42 cents and gas would be in supply and not cost 4 dollars a gallon.

THAT is the kind of change we need.

Obama's change is, basically, building on failed, old programs...that is not 'change'. If you put vinegar on dog poop that is change but, it still stinks!

Vote for him if you'd like but be prepared for 2 things:

1.  BOTH taxes and government will grow

2.  He will be a one-term president (as will McCain).

Robert, think back.

McCain was, at one time, in favor of a pull out & against the "Surge"

After his trips he changed positions. He saw the Surge was working and that the Generals really were right.

Obama has yet to admit that the Surge is working.

All I know is that I have friends and relatives over there (18 in all, 3 are officers) right now and they want to finish the job. They are not in favor of an early pull out. They tell me that is the feeling of the vast majority of soldiers there. They are dismayed that their words and wishes are not getting back to the states. THAT, they tell me is more discouraging to their morale than anything else.
