If there were a demand for sugar from Mexico and ...

If there were a demand for sugar from Mexico and their supply gets exhausted, wouldn't the price for sugar increase? The reason they are shutting down all the ethanol plants in California is because the price of cheap Midwest corn isn't cheap anymore. I don't think it's going to work! I think it's all marketing hype to make money off of the gullible masses.

Exactly correct. This is the cause for price increases of food all over the world. In fact, Time magazine in their April 14 issue discusses this.
