I've been looking everywhere for the answer to this question too, I just tried soaking my jar in hot bleach water overnight, then this morning I dumped the water out and washed with Dawn dish detergent and hot water, after rinsing the jar, I smelled it and it didn't seem to smell of pickles anymore, right now it's running through the dishwasher... The lid might be a little trickier to get the pickle smell out of so I was thinking if the dishwasher trick doesn't work, I'm going to try boiling it in some baking soda water to see how that works. I'll let ya know if it works or not......
