Some states also release salary figures for their employees. NY just did this recently. Also, some school districts have released figures, but may not always release the names. If the salaries are being paid with tax dollars, the information is generally available. If it's a publicly traded company, you may be able to find out the salaries of the "higher-ups" by searching their 10k statement filed with the SEC. Non-profits can be checked by using it's state's charities bureau database or contacting the charity directly (they have to give you the information if they're accepting tax deductible contributions, public, or government grant money).
