I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad.. the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had.

Are tatoos the Christian thing to do, or not?

Are tatoos against the Christian religion? Even if its a tatoo of a religious symbol such as a cross?

I believe this is an issue that can be summed up by what God himself said in His word. I believe the reason christians should stear clear of such practices is that the other nations around the Israelites were doing such things and The Lord said He didn't want them to do it. Should this be cause of condemnation because someone got some while living a life away from Christ? Not at all because things done in ignorance aren't one's fault but something he says that shouldn't be done is a no brainer. I have herd the arguement that its to fit in to witness to the worldly people but that doesn't hold water either because we are supposed to be a perculiar people. This is kinda like saying i will go become a prostitute to witness to them. Maybe i'm wrong in looking at the letter and not the Spirit and everyone's situation is different. Maybe the Lord would call someone to do this to win someone to Him but i would be very careful. I would check my motivation, Am I doing this to be a missionary to win the lost or do i have some underlying desire to do what the world is doing?

There is nothing inherently wrong with a tattoo. There is something wrong (very wrong) with idolatry and satanism, both of which can be dangerously intertwined with tattooing. Many of the arguments against tattoos delve into idolatry and satanism, making some odd argument that all tattoos are of this form. Sure, a tattoo can be such things, but the vast majority aren't. I think tattoos can be a symbol of one's faith in God.

You should never get hung up on technicalities. You are saved if you believe that Jesus Christ is true God & true man. Everything else does not really matter in the scheme of things. Do u really think those who are so prim and proper and boring are going to get the front row seats in the flight to heaven/ I think not. If you have faith and lead a moral life, a tattoo is not going to infringe on your salvation. I am going to add u as a contact on this yedda site.

When we become a Christian, our body becomes a temple of the Holy Spirit ( He lives in us) and therefore we should treat our body with respect and dignity. I believe that the human body, being the creation of God, is a beautiful thing. I think that you should pray about it and you will know in your heart whether this is a way that you want to adorn your body or not. God Bless.

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

In the Old Testament any kind of self-laceration or marking of the body was prohibited among the Hebrew people(It was the Law). Such cuttings were associated with pagan cults that tattooed their followers while they mourned the dead. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matthew 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled...............Be Blessed

And Jesus did just that. A human being could never fulfill the law to obtain salvation and that is why Jesus died - to fulfill the law. Yes, Jesus gives us the desire to obey the commandments and we should do our very best, however, we are not under the old Jewish laws, we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and whatever  decisions we might be contemplating, we should take to Him. May God bless you and speak to your heart and may you listen to Him in all things.

Strangedelay, I agree with Yada. Whatever you decide to do, please go to God in prayer first, and seek his guidance. There is one other verse of scripture that I would like to share with you.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope...........Be Blessed
