What is sweetened condensed milk?
Sweetened condensed milk is a canned milk product, where the milk is combined with sugar and cooked down to a thick, sticky mixture and then canned. This is not to be confused with evaporated milk, which is an unsweetened canned milk product.

Sweetened condensed milk, is cow's milk from which water has been removed and to which sugar has been added, yielding a very thick, sweet product that can last for years without refrigeration if unopened.
It is found in a can, and it is the basis for the recipe for banoffee pie - where the can is placed in a pan unopened and cooked until a toffee forms inside - delicious!
